Sarah Palin: Beware the GOP's Product Rollouts

War is cool. It was the last product the GOP rolled out, and it sold reasonably well the first year, which was all that mattered. It means less and less in the electoral landscape this year. This year is all about people. Maybe the turbo-type casting prevalent in reality TV is to blame. Whatever the case, America will vote for the ticket that best reflects the way they see themselves.
In the same way Obama appeals to the iPhone set, Palin is manna from heaven for the “drill baby drill”-chanting, monster truck-driving, military-growing, deer hunt-going, SUV-driving, Wall Street Journal-reading masses.
Remember the last electoral “product” the GOP rolled out? After last night I can’t help but wonder if George W. Bush’s candidacy was the marketing equivalent of a “dry test.” Meet Sarah Palin. Her rollout last night was a smash success. If America liked the idea of drinking a beer with our current president (forget for the moment that he’s a recovered (allegedly) alcoholic), just think of how the same guys will react to Sarah “Pitbull” Palin. She oozes “homerun” appeal to the target market: her jaunty Gidget meets Patton at a family barbecue can-doism is, as Paris Hilton might say, “Hot.”
Last night was the opening salvo in a culture war. The prize is market supremacy. The GOP is not failing yet. Complacency is the enemy. So are shrill attacks. The Democrats are going to need every ounce of message discipline they can muster (I know it’s a tall order) and some very clear thinking to stay ahead of the GOPs dittohead, country club cult of personality.
We’ve got a fantastic, historically significant product. Alas, the target market in our case is harder to define. It should be our first priority.

SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS!!!
Funny to see here sitting with soldiers. Those are the same people whose benefits McCain wants to cut. He said, "If you keep giving them benefits, they won't stay in the military".
I guess mold covered hospitals at Walter Reid and Fort Sill are "benefits".
Why doesn't Obama go after McCain's disgraceful and criminal voting record against our brave troops?
Republicans pretend to support our troops and then send them overseas with faulty and old equipment, trapping them there, and giving them nothing when they come back. And yet, the Republicans pretend to honor them. Republicans treat our troops like Sarah's baby treats his diaper.

By deanrddSeptember 4, 2008 - 10:14amThat's not the problem in my eyes
The real problem is the millions of ignorant Republicon voters that perpetuate their nonsense.
I think Obama is waiting for the debates. He doesn't want to get into a fight during their convention even though McCain stepped up his stupid ads during the Democratic convention. I hate the frustration but Obama really does need to be careful in his attacks. I want the Dems to fight back too but it seems that whenever they do there is this scream about a liberal media bias (even though 80+% of media is conservative-owned). I don't know why it backfires, but it does. I guess it goes back to the millions of ignorant Republicon voters. They are easily duped.

By deanrddSeptember 4, 2008 - 11:36amYou have a felon as a Presidential candidate!
Don't forget the Keating 5.
Just because a criminal isn't caught or prosecuted doesn't make them any less a criminal.
And apparently you've blocked "Duke" Cunningham out of your pea brain. And Tom DeLay (corruption). And Larry Craig (gay sex). And David Vitter (sex). And Rush Limbaugh (drugs). And Scooter (treason, but still a scapegoat for bigger fish). And Ted Haggard (sp?) (drugs and gay sex, but he's been "cured").
It's funny, though, that a Democrats big problem is that they get caught in a lie. Nobody died. No country was destroyed. No harm, no foul.
But Republicans get caught in a lie and it's all the liberal media bias. It's not their fault. Never mind that thousands of people have been murdered because of the Bush Reich.
Republicons just aren't capable or willing to be responsible. That's just Republicons doing what Republicons do.

So shes a promoter of breaking the first commandment when it doesnt suit you. Eh, what else is new? I think people are finding her way too shocking.
I think she drank too much coffee before the speech. People are stunned that she's not as slow and stupid as Bush. See, my mom can scream and holler and chew me out anytime she wants to too, talks real fast when she'd do it to. But I know when she was WRONG! So, I dont think, never thought my moms a dumbass my whole life, so it never occured to me that this chick was one. ...
Did occur to me that she blew her way into her governors job; but thats another issue, good comedy, and what my mom says. "Of coarse she fucked her way into the job. No safe sex my ass." Hahaha, and so on...My moms from a small town too, oops, me too, but we actually get it. Of coarse shes fake and pre-manufactured. SO was Bush. He probably blew his way to the top too. No wonder he hates his dad so much now.
So yeah shes a Republican Brood-mare for Photo Opt Gun Nut Preacher-Woman. Wow, who would have known?
Cant you hear Rove now?,"Yes! For a black canidate you get a woman, what are you -F-ing stupid? America will be so suprised, as if it was something unexpected. Oooo boy, Im smart, me a thinker with my diabolical stratagies. Im a trixter. Im crafty. You'd have to, not automatically think women are retarded to see it coming or not fall for it. It cant fail!. The "answer to the black canidate being the Ultra White red neck woman design to envigorrate the right because shes the "Their Token All American Woman" genius plan of mine. I just need to pat myself on the back until my arm breaks off Im so darn smart. Me sure am,".
....(yet, a woman who names her kids the dumbest names only an insane women would name her kids, whos out to take away every other womans rights to their own bodies).
Rove back in his lab,"Ha ha ha. Im a schemer. Im the Riddler! Im, the Brain, with the... Plan to take over the world!!! Come Pinky. And bring , the B.ionic I.ntolerant T.heocratic C.onservative H.effer V.ice P.resident Canidate of Subjugation,". She's like something Wile E Cayote would deploy against the Roadrunner and I'll bet if you flipped her over she's got A.C.M.E. on her ass for a tramp stamp.
Naaa, we're not surprised or anything like that. Them picking Palin the psycho. Its a "No duh," kind of a thing. She is a psycho like them. Mama Psycho Palin.

By MadgardnerSeptember 4, 2008 - 11:40amSarah the Breeder Vice President
Will Sarah give up sex for the job?? Or will she continue to grow her brood while she is in office??? Republican's have already shown their unwillingness to "pull out" when it is called for!!
I wonder if her daughters shot gun wedding will be held at the White house???
Will we see the Veep's daughter appear on the Maury Povich program to take a paternity test??? This all looks like a Jerry Springer episode to me!!
The publican's never cease to expose their ignorance and hypocrisy!
Rush advocated for Sarah's candidacy because it take him off the top of "The Most Hypo critic" list for a minute or two while Sarah takes the title!! Such family values!!

Anyone with any thinking capability knows that her son will never be harmed while in uniform!! If anything he will have soldiers surrounding him that will take ALL THE RISK!!! Then years from now the Phalin boy will run for office and he will exploit his service in uniform as though he really took risks. Such Crap!!!!

By nonexistent manSeptember 4, 2008 - 1:23pmI understand the axiom (even if it's not grammatically clear)
It seems that you are implying that Democrats are weak on national security.
You don't seem to understand that provoking other nations, including those with nukes, is NOT responsible and will NOT prevent a second attack. Obama is a responsible and intelligent leader who will bring honor back to this country and keep us safe. "Responsible" and "intelligent" are words not associated with the presidency over the last eight years or Republicons in general over the last twenty or more.
You can shove that up your axiom. You don't get that we all have to live in this world. It's not "us against them". It's all of us together. Do you even know the reason why bin Laden was so pissed off that he used al Qaeda to attack us? It was because of a base in Saudi Arabia, his homeland, and all the other interference that the U.S. perpetrates around the world (remember Iran-Contra; that was Ronnie Raygun). As much as you don't want to admit it, our country is the instigator. The U.S. is the aggressor and other people in the world have had enough. That's not "blame America first", that's responsibility.
If you meant something else, then I guess I did not understand your implication.

Why is that John Stewart can so it say easily but the Dem. spokesfolks can't. O'Reilly railed on Jamie Lynn Spears saying her parents sucked and she was out of control but Palin is a personal matter that shouldn't be discussed. Rove on Sen. Warner - Fmr. Mayor of Richmond, Virginia as "not that big of a city" not qualified. But praise Palin as having Executive Office experience - Wasilla pop. 9200 !!! Gov. Alaska pop. = medium sized city in the rest of U.S.
And even before the announcement Scarborough and Buchanan both said was clearly unqualified (gov. of Alaska for > 1.5 yrs.), but after "oh how can Mr. inexperience Obama criticize Mrs. Inexperience Palin?" She has foreign policy experience "by osmosis" because Alaska is next to Russia. HOw do we let them get away this, as P Noonan says "Bulls#*&t.
