THE INDISPENSABLE HELPMEET OF THE PROGRESSIVE: THE IDEOLOGICALLY CLOISTERED MIND OF THE TIMOROUS REPUBLI-CON. LIONEL AT THE RNC

By Lionel

REYKJAVIK, Iceland – On our last day at the Republican National Convention, I was standing with my colleague David Bender Friday morning at the complimentary coffee display at the Marriott Courtyard, Bloomington, Minnesota’s finest caravansary, politely voicing my objection to the selection and very notion of flavored coffee creamers when a woman who I later found to be a Republican delegate or just a Republican apparently overheard David and I muse anent her Aggrandized Old Party and our vey disgust with same. She walked away and entered the PC-appointed internet(s) facility where my inamorata, Frusheda, was already seated.

This termagant turned to Frusheda and asked if she were with those “twits,” viz. David and me. This harridan muttered something about why don’t we go and blog, or words to that effect, and when she heard of our affiliation with Air America, her rage was off the chart. Frusheda asked her whom she was with and she snapped, “I’m an American.” To this harpy’s shock, Frusheda jumped to her feet and hummed angrily “L’Internationale.” The self-styled cackle-broad ran away in disgust.

This woman was the prototypical Republi-con, a person who enjoys the general perceived trappings of Republican/conservative platforms, all the while failing to understand the gravamen of her alleged disagreements. We were the enemy. We deigned to question the GOP ”plan.” We didn’t see the brilliance or message of Madame Mooseburger, Wasilla’s Marcia Brady, nor did we buy Old Man Potter’s purloined promise of Change.

That was pretty

That was pretty funny.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." Dwight Eisenhower

What Was The Point Of This?

I remain pretty open minded but this lost me halfway through the first paragraph. I skimmed the rest only to find a very hollow anti-Republican smear piece with all the substance of an awkward little girl who after being made fun of on the school yard scribbles on her notebook cover, "I hate so-and-so."

I am a wordsmith myself but in terms of writing style, the above reads like the writer sat at his keyboard with his thesaurus at the ready. Why does every sentence need to take the scenic route to make its point? Who speaks this way in real life? Whats with the Marcia Brady reference? I know deep down Lionel covets the career of Dennis Miller but the pop culture nudges have to have some relevance! Are we to gather that Marcia Brady was representative of some sort of Republican ideal? And Old Man Potter again? I thought Lionel regarded Dick Cheney as Old Man Potter. Is EVERY Republican Old Man Potter now?

The only word I had to look

The only word I had to look up was "gravamen. "
Overall it was a pretty funny post, and I generally don't like Lionel.

Wordsmith? You couldn't spell "plagiarize" in the other post...

The Jaco Pastorius Experience

It Always Amazes Me...

how people like Michtou and BrentCraig eagerly monitor Lionel and then write nasty things. I guess nothing better to do on a Sunday than sit around in your jammies trying to outdo the brilliance that is Lionel.

I Love Lionel! He completely understands issues and is so on point, that it goes over most of your poor heads. I pity you........

Um, I said twice I thought

Um, I said twice I thought this post was funny.
I guess you have problems with reading comprehension.

I don't eagerly monitor

I don't eagerly monitor Lionel, BTW. I occasionally read his posts. The first time he posted on AAR's homepage, he went on a rant and insulted everyone here, because they dared to hold an opinion he disagreed with. I have listened to about ten minutes of his show (five minutes, twice). I found him to be every bit as arrogant and disagreeable as he was the first time he posted here. I haven't found anything to change my opinion of him.
So "eagerly monitor" is not anything that I do. Occasionally drop in, yes.

Michtou...

It was the "generally I don't like Lionel" part...why not just say that the post was funny? Why add anything negative? Be happy and more positive.
