Do we really need to duplicate Oprah's programming?
While I congratulate Richard on his 9/11 Truth series - a vital topic that is getting little or no mainstream attention, I'm baffled why he'd consider duplicating Oprah's programming here. Is this an attempt to get more mainstream listenership? The problem is that, if I want to watch Oprah, I can watch her show - I don't need to hear her program re-run here on Air America.
For every new listener you may gain this way, you ensure that some old listeners like me will be TUNING OUT. I listen to Air America for content I can't get elsewhere.
If Tolle is meaningful to you, has helped you - then great! But your extravagent on-air lauding of him and his writing approaches an almost nauseous level. It sort of reminds me of when all the rock stars and celebrities in the psychedelic era fell in love with the Maharishi.
How about this: Get Tolle on the air and ask him some pertinent questions. I'd be very curious as to his take on 9/11 truth, for example. I'd also be very interested in his take on making money at promoting spirituality. I contend that it's fair to make a living in a way that helps people, but there are spiritual leaders who take oaths of poverty. As we see televangelists like Pat Robertson living a lifestyle most of his followers can only dream of - as we note Scientology charging fees for their inner secrets and sucking-up to celebrities, what makes Tolle any different?
Sincerely,
Gary Roscoe Johnson
