Your guest should bring suit against the INDIVIDUAL who denied him his right to vote. The state has a certain amount of deniability. The rules were legal but they weren't followed. And the repubs don't care if the state has to pay out. If the individual has to pay and/or face jail, they will have a hard time finding others to do their dirty work in Nov.
If it happened to me, I would ask for the proper spelling of his name and whether he is acting on his own authority or if there was another name that should be included in the suit. He probably should include the police officers as well. They acted in concert.
