David really needs to stop whining. When he talks about Obama's 1st term being a lame duck because the GOP may replay Clinton's 1st term, etc....its frustrating as hell. Its almost announcing that Bender isn't going to do anything on his radio show about it or that we have no say. Things have changed (notice the Clinton machine didn't win this time around.) People are paying attention this time around. The stakes are too high for this defeatist slop.

Yes, the landscape is truly very different now.
Yes, David Bender's phraseology on this was unfortunate. Using the abstract "they" in sentences like "Will they kneecap him before he even gets a chance to take office?" is silly. We need our comentators [like David Bender, who ROCKS by the way] to tell us... who is they? what power do they have? what are the realistic possibilities? what can we do about it?
In 1992 a sceptical public reluctantly elected Clinton and mostly thought about who he was sleeping with. Limbaugh was still funny, because he and O'Reilly and Hannity hadn't actually brainwashed large sections of voters to support incompented wacko right bozos with a ultra rich get the cash while we start the wars agenda.
Times have changed. We now believe that "Yes, WE can"... and huge numbers of us now believe that "Now, we must and we will"
The wacko right has been so thoroughly discredited. [I am about to describe why the Limbaughs can't kneecap anybody] and now with McCain's smear campaigns turning off the independents and the undecideds, if we progressives just stay on message and stick with being politically active we can get real things done in the next 10 years... not just energy independence, but also universal health care... Electing Barack Obama is only the first step in a long journey, but I am ginned up. and I am not the only one.

Remember the reason that the projected election tampering, caging, and back office no audit trail blackbox last minute software fraud rate is so significant is that HAVA favors incumbents NOT election integrity. It has not been comprehensively addressed because the Dems decided it was less important than covering their ass from exposure to culpability for their passive, or active complicity in authorizing POLICE STATE domestic spying, secret prison extraordinary rendition and other war crimes. Including the unprovoked illegal invasion of Iraq based on clearly bogus single sourced intel that would have come out as FISA unraveled during investigations, since it was violated prior to 9/11 in concert with the drafting of the 1000 page USA PATRIOT Act and troops were being staged to invade Afghanistan.
By controlling the congressional calendar the incumbent Dems have placed their personal reelection objectives above election and legislative transparency. So NOTE THEIR VOTES under DeLay, Frist, Hastert, Pelosi and Reid that allowed the NEOCON agenda to be so successfully implemented.

An uninformed population in financial chaos is easily manipulated when FEAR and insecurity are applied as an instrument to distract from the erosion of liberty via passage of bills at 2 AM that haven't been read, or sufficiently debated. McStain received a "D". That's right. A grade of "D". The same grade his running mate received for her class in "economics". A grade higher than any grade he received from the Naval Academy.

Palin actually went to 5 different colleges for 6 years to get her four year degree in Journalism.
The weird thing is that she never wrote a single article for any school paper, never appeared on any school radio show, never appeared on any school television.
It's like taking "drama" and never acting or taking "art" and never painting anything or getting a degree in music and never singing or playing.
Her grades are private. We know she recieved a D because she told us publicly. She was "proud" of being a "regular" person and NOT one of the "elite". Like McCain. "5th from the bottom and I am so prould".

Hey David,
In fairness to McCain (and I can't believe I'm actually defending him)... I think you gave out false information regarding the crash on the USS Forrestal. It is stated in the official naval investigation that the unfortunate incident was caused by another plane that accidentally fired a missile into a plane on deck. The only controversy as I understand it is that there are conflicting accounts as to whether the missile hit McCain's plane or the plane next to his. Immediately after the incident McCain said it was not his plane that was struck. But then later in his autobiography changed his story. Either way. I'm pretty sure it is well documented that that particular incident was not caused my any negligent behavior on the part of McCain. Still think his abysmal overall record speaks for itself and clearly shows that he's not fit to even hold his Senate seat....But just want to point that out in the interest in accuracy and fairness.

No "official Navy report was ever released. Remember, McCain's father and grandfather were both Admirals.
What we do know is that McCain was the ONLY deck officer that day that was NOT decorated. He was the ONLY soldier NOT seriously injured that was airlifted.
Living members of the crew have said it's becuase they wanted to kill McCain believing that he started the mishap when he made a "hotdog move" that is called a "wet start".
You let the fuel "pool" and when you start your jet, flames shoot out of the back of the jet and make a huge noise. This caused a missle to shoot off from the jet behind him and into the fuel tank of his jet. McCain ran down into the ship to get away from the exploding jets.
There is no record of McCain's "bravery" nor any decoration to back it up besides what he says. In all these years, McCain has never, not once, visited the yearly Forrestal memorail given by it's survivors. He has said every year that he is too "busy".
Not a single crewman from the Forrestal supported McCain at the Republican convention.
Exactly what happened, we don't know. What has happened since, we do.
